Giuseppe Dotto is a BIM and Design Technology Manager at OMA holding a double Master of Architecture from Italy and Brazil, Università di Ferrara and PUC/PR Curitiba. He brings extensive expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) to the table, having worked on large-scale international projects of many typologies, from residential to institutional, passing through museal, healthcare and sport.Additionally, his passion for computer science drives him to continually explore cutting-edge technologies, developing digital strategies to push the boundaries of standard AEC workflows.
Giuseppe Dotto from OMA presents a provocative shift in how we think about AI in architecture, not as a tool for architects, but as an extension of the building itself. Moving beyond productivity gains, this talk explores how buildings can be understood as complex, living databases, rich with interconnected information spanning design, materials, construction, and operation.
Through examples from OMA’s global practice, Giuseppe reframes BIM models and project data as a form of “architectural intelligence,” where every element contributes to a larger system of knowledge. He introduces the idea that the real opportunity lies not in generating more data, but in structuring and connecting it meaningfully, enabling new ways to query, interact with, and ultimately “communicate” with buildings.
At the core of the talk is a challenge: how do we move from static information to dynamic dialogue? By rethinking how data is organised, linked, and interpreted, Giuseppe suggests a future where architects don’t just design buildings, but engage with them as responsive systems, capable of informing decisions, learning from past projects, and evolving over time.
