Emily and Mansel are Co-Founders of Archisource, a global architecture and design collective supporting the creative community. Both are UK architects and Creative Directors of the Drawing of the Year Awards, with experience across leading practices including Zaha Hadid Architects, Allies and Morrison, DSDHA, and DLA Architecture. Through Archisource, they work to connect, showcase, and support creators across the global architecture and design community.
In this talk, Archisource co-founders Emily and Mansel share the story behind building a platform dedicated to creativity, community, and visibility in architecture. Reflecting on their journey from architecture students in Sheffield to running one of the most recognised creative platforms in the industry, they unpack the values that have shaped Archisource since 2017: authenticity, accessibility, consistency, and a deep commitment to supporting emerging talent.
They discuss the problems they saw in architecture media and awards culture, from pay-to-feature platforms to systems that often reward reputation over quality. In response, they explain how Archisource set out to do things differently by creating a curated platform that champions genuine work, celebrates creative expression, and gives students and designers around the world a place to be seen. Through initiatives such as Drawing of the Year and London Creates, they show how a platform can evolve beyond publishing into something that actively supports, inspires, and connects a global creative community.
At its core, the talk is about protecting creativity in a changing industry. Emily and Mansel argue that as architecture adapts to new tools and technologies, the need for authentic platforms and ethical creative leadership matters more than ever. Their message is a reminder that community-led platforms can play a powerful role in shaping culture, opening doors, and helping the next generation of designers grow.
